About Rebecca

Rebecca Betzen is a lifelong North Valley resident, a 27-year veteran teacher with Albuquerque Public Schools, and a passionate advocate for public education. Raised in a family of educators, Rebecca taught at several APS middle schools including Washington, Jimmy Carter, and Garfield, and continues to support the APS through her volunteer work. Her husband teaches at Valley High, her children graduated from APS, and her grandchildren attend APS schools today.

Rebecca brings firsthand classroom experience, deep community ties, and a strong commitment to equity and student well-being. She’s running for APS School Board to be a voice families can trust—someone who listens, understands, and puts families first. Rebecca is dedicated to fighting school vouchers, improving school safety, amplifying parent voices, and strengthening the educator workforce.
